About Dorothy

Dorothy Lee is the author of Invest In Joy: Teachings of the Light Collective, channeled by Kathryn Harwig.  Dorothy graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Stout, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, a minor in Psychology, and a Master of Science Degree in Guidance & Counseling.  She also earned a Certification in Special Education from the University Minnesota, St. Cloud, and attended numerous post-graduate level Psychology courses at the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota.

Dorothy retired two years ago from the Minneapolis Public Schools after a 35-year career as a Special Education Teacher.  She began her career teaching Reading at an inner city junior high school.  She later went on to teach pre-school, elementary school, and finally, the last several years, high school.  At the high school level she specialized in teaching Reading, and was the Director Of Reading for the Minneapolis Public Schools for a year. She also team taught Health, Science, Social Studies, Family Life, and Life Skills.

In addition to her teaching duties, Dorothy was a Case Manager to 30 Special Education students each year.  This entailed testing, evaluation, written reports, conducting meetings, working with students, parents, teachers, support staff, and outside agencies, monitoring student progress, and ensuring students were provided the materials and knowledge necessary to be successful.

As a Special Education teacher, Dorothy worked with students with disabilities, students with difficult home lives, and students from countries around the world, many who had little education due to violence in their homelands.  Because of the many challenges they faced, she was always searching for more effective ways to work with them and give them the knowledge, skills and strategies they would need to successfully navigate school and the world.

Dorothy met Kathryn Harwig two years ago at an Edge Life Expo and began attending her Forums.  After listening to Kathryn channel the Light Collective for a few sessions, she felt the information and advice they were providing was profound, and yet basic and practical.  Because of her extensive education in Psychology and Counseling, and her long career working with a wide spectrum of people living extraordinarily challenging lives, she saw the value and importance of sharing this information with many more people.

At the next forum she asked Kathryn and the Light Collective if they would be willing to hold Light Collective Speaks sessions where they would speak in more depth about the universe and the human condition.  They agreed.  The next month she began recording the monthly Forums and quarterly Light Collective Speaks sessions.  Invest In Joy is a compilation of presentations given by The Light Collective, and question and answer sessions at those meetings over a period of a year.
